Ministry Projects

We have many projects scheduled for 2009. Our projects are funded by individual donations and churches that plan trips to Guatemala. Please make sure to read about all of the projects below. The picture is a house that New Life Deliverance Church will be replacing with a new house at the end of May.


Feeding Center / Church


For a few months we have been helping a feeding center in La Pinada. The feeding center is a rented building and is very small. They currently feed 125 kids every Tuesday and Thursday. We will be securing funding to feed the kids every day not just Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. God has also provided the funds for a piece of land next door to the feeding center. In September we will break ground on a new building that will serve as a feeding center during the week and a church on Sunday’s! We have raised $3200 so far to build the church. We are starting the design process now. We figure the entire project will cost around $6500. We hope to have the final pricing in the next few weeks. This center will sit in the middle of a community that the average household income is $40 per month.


New Housing Projects


In March we had the opportunity to take a tour of La Pinada . While walking through the village are hearts were changed. As we walked through the village we were invited into homes just like the one in the picture. People were so proud of their homes. As we went from home to home Hilmar shared stories with us about homes washing off the side of the mountain. The houses are made with tin roofs and they take old billboard signs and wrap around 4 pieces of wood for their walls. Most homes house 6 to 10 people and are only one room. For their kitchen they use blocks to cook on with metal lids much like a can lid. Their bathrooms are just holes dug into the ground with plastic wrapped around for privacy. New Life will be arriving at the end of May to help us build the first of many houses in this community. It cost around $3500 to build a house. All blocks, cement, rock, and gravel are carried by hand for about ½ mile. It is amazing to see how hard the people in La Pinada work. If you would like to help build a house email us.


Serving Souls


This project has taken a life of it’s own. As Christians we always look for ways to serve others and show the true love and example of Christ. Before Jesus gave His life he spent time washing the feet of the disciples. Even though he knew what was going to take place he loved them unconditionally. That is our mission with Serving Souls. We collect shoes from people and churches in the US and bring them to Guatemala. We then take the shoes to block parties and events and place them on the feet of those in need. Part of that process is sitting them down and washing their feet. This is one of the most humbling parts of our ministry in Guatemala.


Vacation Bible Schools


This summer we have many teams busy doing Vacation Bible schools. We have 8 Bible Schools scheduled, all in public schools during school hours. This is a huge opportunity for us to share Jesus. We will see over 4000 kids in these 8 weeks. Please pray for Salvations. We also will be providing work crews to help with projects within the schools. We have 2 schools that will be getting new or upgraded kitchens. These are projects that we need not only manpower but we also need financial partners to help with the funding of these projects.
