Welcome to Guatemala!

A Good Week

I am sorry it has been a few days since our last blog. We have had a lot of things going on. I want to thank everyone for their thought, prayers, cards, and food. It is still hard to believe that it has been a week since Carl has went to be with the Lord. Carla and the kids and Carla's mom are doing well. We have been taking advantage of our time here. Yesterday we went to Pigeon Forge and let Wilma shop for some flower vases for the beautiful flowers that some of you sent to her and to us. It looks like right now we will be staying for another week or two, to make sure that Wilma has everything that she needs. I have a couple of dates open to speak if your church would like for us to come. I have the next 2 Wednesday nights and a Sunday morning and 2 Sunday nights. So please email me if you would like for us to come and share with your church. I also have been working hard to get everything up to date with our base of supporters. If you have committed to be a monthly financial partner I would first like to say thank you. I also need your help. We are going to start a monthly newsletter and statement that will be sent to you via email. Could you please email us the address that you would like that sent to. We feel this will help us keep in touch with you and will also help share with you where and what your investment in our ministry is doing. If you have not signed up but would like to please email us and we will get you on our list. With all of the projects we have planned we would love to have as many on board as we can. Again thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Your prayers and sympathy have been felt and have really helped us through one of the darkest times of our lives. Please Pray for Our Family

No matter how much we think we are prepared to lose someone we find out that we are not. At 6:35 this morning Carl Henry Gann took his final breath here on Earth and entered into the gates of Heaven. As much as it excites me for him knowing that he will not fight for another breath it still hurts so much. For 19 years Carla and I have been together and Carl and Wilma have always treated me like a son. As I watched Carl this morning and watched Carla and Wilma hold him as they said goodbye I could only stand and watch totally helpless. Carla, Wilma and the kids are doing good but will need your prayers over the next few days. I want to thank everyone for there prayers for months s we have walked through this illness and now death. I want to take a second to give you just a small glimpse of the man Carl was. This morning as he was struggling to breath he ask Wilma how the garden was doing. Wilma told him that it wasn't doing very well that she had let it grow up a lot. He then told her to get Ken Snow and stick him in the garden. Wilma ask him why? He then told her to stick him in the ground so that he could grow. See Carl is about 6'4 and Ken is only about 5'5. What is even more crazy is Wilma was trying to figure out where Carl wanted to go for his funeral but did not want to ask. Well Ken retired from working with Carl and now works at Bridges Funeral home. It is amazing how God works things out. We serve an awesome God who knows all things. As we grieve the loss of someone we love very much I know that as I type this he is already sitting with Jesus. Hanging in There

I am sorry that it has been a few days since our last post. We have been very busy here at home helping with Carla's dad and also going to a few churches. Sunday I got to go to our home church Mt. Harmony Baptist in Knoxville. It was good to be home and to sing in English. Although we are learning Spanish it was good to be at home for a Sunday. Then Sunday night we had a great time at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta Georgia. I want to thank everyone for your prayers and your support during this time. Please continue to pray for Carla and her mom. Also please pray for Katie and Zach. It is really hard on all of us to see Carl hurt and struggle to breathe. I remember this time last year sitting down with them to share with them that we were moving to Guatemala. That was a tough day and I stand amazed at the way God changed hearts and attitudes toward us leaving home. Carla is an only child and that made it that much tougher. But you know we now call Casa home and God gets all of the glory for that. Well that is enough for now. I hope everyone has a great week and if you get a chance read 2 Corinthians chapter 4. That is our chapter right now. I love you and again thank you for your prayers. His Servant, Mike PS. If you want to send an email to encourage Carla and the kids please do so. Their emails are below.
